Chalmer Williams has let the reader inside the struggles of his upbringing as a teen. Not surprisingly, many black urban youth in America share similar stories. This book is an easy read with short chapters. The book is so engaging that you could finish it in one sitting. After each chapter, there are searching questions to ask yourself or others in a small group setting. This book is for those who want to inspire other urban youths or gain understanding of the struggle of urban life as a teen. If we could see the potential every child has with empathy, sympathy, and opportunity, many can blossom like Chalmer! It is worth the read!

When you open a book to read, you expect that it will take some time to be drawn into the scene. With this book I was IMMEDIATELY drawn into the story-line and couldn't wait to see what took place on the next page. The writer is very transparent with his life obstacles as an African American growing up in America and how life experiences can lead you to places you thought would not be an option.
I especially recommend this book to young men who seek the inspiration needed to keep life moving. Well done!

Such an inspiring story of redemption, the affects of trauma on youth, and how one decision can impact our lives. I would not consider it a Christain book but it is written from a Christian world veiw so it is filled with Truth, proof of God's love, and His fullfilled promise of using all things for the good of those who love Him. This would be a great book to read for young adults, parents, teachers, and school administrators. Our schools have a long way to come in understanding the impacts of trauma and our youth. Highly recommended!

This book is an absolutely incredible story and experience from the first page to the last. The author perfectly and creatively tells his story in such a way that keeps you wanting more - page turning suspense and both heartwarming and devastating moments. I could not recommend this book more! Everyone should read this - it's both beautiful and gut-punching in its truths.
